After several misses on helpers, the wonderful help we ended up with was outstanding. The service itself was very open to phone calls and help to correct situations. I certainly would recommend the service to others. Thank you for a good job.Report
There are so many emotions and responsibilities involved when a loved one suddenly finds themselves in a whole new world due to an incapacitating event. This was the case when our 97 year old mother suffered a serious stroke. Up until the stroke, she had been living independently in her home for over 60 years. While a skilled nursing facility (SNF) may offer the best chances for rehabilitation, the very nature of a SNF makes it difficult to provide the kind of personal attention that elderly care requires.Report
This is where Assistance Home Care (AHC) comes into the picture. In our Mom's case, the stroke had left her with a partially paralyzed right side and the inability to talk, but very cognizant of her situation. While being strong-willed would help with the various therapies needed in her recovery, it also made her actions at night unpredictable and potientally harmful when there were less structured activities available. AHC was able to provide care professionals to be with her at the SNF from 7PM-7AM. Eveything from personal care, feeding, dressing assistance, cleaning, and just "being there" to advocate for her provided invaluable help to Mom and peace of mind for us. Perhaps the biggest supporter of AHC was Mom herself. When we asked if she thought that she no longer needed AHC, she let us know by a number of non-verbal communication methods that she absolutely wanted them there at night! Decision made. :)
In addition to the services provided, AHC is very proactive in communication. Whether it was questions about policy or an issue that needed addressing, responses and actions from not only our case manager but from any of the staff members were quick and decisive. There is also a portal called the "Family Room" that allows family members to view daily care logs, schedule of care professionals, invoices, and the requirements for the AHC care professionals requested.
I would highly recommend talking to AHC to provide home care services for anybody in need - be it in the home or in a SNF.
We are using Assistance Home Care for my Mother-in-law. They have been a great group to work with. They are always helpful, attentive and patient even with a cranky, difficult patient.Report

I have used Assistance Home Care for several months after surgery and have found their caregivers to be capable and very kind. They did many things I could not do and kept my home clean and comfortable. I would be happy to use their services again in the future.Report
I needed assistance for a loved one very quickly. I was given a few referrals and liked the story behind the business and of course their ratings. The staff which I worked with, Jessica, Chris, Vicky & Pam have been spot on in terms of service and understanding our needs. The care team coming to our home are kind, considerate and have provided excellent assistance and companionship as needed. It has been such a wonderful resource during a stressful time and the assistance in going to medical appointments is so helpful. A very special thank you to the care team. I am very pleased with their efforts.Report
Great company with very caring staff!Report
We were hesitant to contact an agency because we worried about having people unknown to us in our home. As our requirements for assistance grew, it became a necessity and Assistance Home Care was suggested by our physical therapist. That was the best call ever. After we visited in person with Chris, he told us he had someone in mind and she came the next day. He chose the PERFECT person for us and I think we are a good match for her. We could not be more thankful for the agency’s careful consideration of who we are and what we needed. It is also reassuring to know that if our person were to be ill or on vacation, the agency would put the same careful consideration into a substitute for her.Report
