Since 1980, Archaeological and Historical Services (AHS) has provided cultural resources management services for all aspects of project planning and development. AHS is a grant/contract research program at Eastern Washington University that specializes in aiding private, city, county, state, and federal clients in meeting local, state, and federal compliance requirements pertaining to the inventory, protection, and enhancement of Pacific Northwest archaeological and historical resources.
AHS services are designed to manage cultural resources as well as meet the requirements of federal, state, and county regulatory statutes, including those for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA, Section 106), Executive Order 05-05 (in WA state), and the Department of Transportation Act (DOT, Section 4f). In addition to project findings reports, our professional staff contributes to regional historic preservation and archaeological research through the publication of findings in research journals and presentations at regional and national meetings.
