Category Description:

A native breed of The Netherlands, the Friesian horse is a black draft-type horse that was originally used by knights in battle. Only black horses can be registered with the stud and the only white authorized is a small white star; although the occasional red or brown horse is born, a red coat is considered a fault. Friesians are most often used for driving and dressage.
