The Dales Pony was originally bred in the United Kingdom, near the border of Scotland. It is primarily black, with a height of 14 to 14.2 hands, but can come in bay, brown, and gray also. The original use of the pony was to pull a plow and be a good riding horse, and today it still resembles a small draft horse.
