Founded in 1961 as the Los Angeles Angels by Gene Autry, the team changed its name to the california Angels in 1965 as they were about to move from Dodger Stadium (which was called "Chavez Ravine" when the Angels played there) to Anaheim Stadium. Bought by Wald Disney's Disney Sports, the team was again renamed the Anaheim Angels. In 2005, the words "Los Angeles" were prepended to the team's name, making them the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
