Solomon was the tenth son of David and the first king to inherit the throne. He was the third king, following Saul and David, and the last king of the united kingdom, because it split into two kingdoms under the rule of his son. He ruled for 40 years during which he proved himself to be full of wisdom. With the help of God, Solomon made the nation the most powerful one in the region, and he married the daughter of Pharaoh, which was an act that helped hurry his downfall. He built the original Temple of God so that the Ark of the Covenant had a place to remain. He died a corrupt and perverted man.
