Lot traveled with his uncle Abraham and his family from Ur to Egypt. Though they were fond of one another, they often quarreled and eventually decided to go their separate ways. Abraham allowed Lot to choose where he wanted to live, and Lot went southeast to the well-watered land near Sodom and Gomorrah. Years passed, Sodom and Gomorrah turned to abject sin, and God decided to destroy the five cities in the area. Angels led Lot, his wife and their daughters out of their home telling them to leave quickly and not look back. As they left, his wife turned to look back at Sodom and was turned to a pillar of salt. Lot continued on with his two daughters, who apparently believed that they were the only people to survive the end of the world. Believing that they needed to continue the human race, they got Lot drunk and were intimate with him. Both of them became pregnant, and one had a son named Moab and the other had a son named Ammon. Both of them led nations by the same names.
