Esau, the twin brother of Jacob and oldest son of Isaac and Rebekah, was the grandson of Abraham. He was born minutes before Jacob and so was entitled to his father's inheritance, but he sold his birthright to Jacob, who later took the name Israel. His father is later tricked into giving to Jacob the blessing intended for him.
