Although Pontius Pilate's wife is not named in the New Testament, Christian tradition knows her as Claudia. There is no official biography of her, though details of her life are surmised from tradition. She is mentioned only in Matthew in one sentence, which has her sending her husband a message which says, "Have nothing to do with that innocent man, because in a dream last night, I suffered much on account of him." She is considered a stain in the Eastern Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox churches.
