Category Description:

Lazarus of Bethany was the brother of Mary and Martha. After he fell ill, Mary and Martha sent a message to Jesus to come quickly, because he was very sick. Jesus took His time, and before He got there, Lazarus died. Martha was very angry and let Jesus know that in no uncertain terms. Jesus told her that Lazarus would be raised from the dead, but she thought He was talking about the resurrection at the end of time. He responded to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die." He went to where Lazarus was buried and prayed, mentioning that He wanted to raise Lazarus from the dead so that those present would believe that He was sent by God. He said loudly, “Lazarus, come forth." And Lazarus came out of the burial place alive.
