Joseph of Arimathea was, according to the Gospels, a rich man and a member of the Sanhedrin who did not agree that Jesus should have been convicted. It was he who provided a burial place for Jesus after He was crucified, and Joseph carried the body down, wrapped it in linen, and buried Him there.
