Category Description:

John Marc, also widely known as Mark the Evangelist, was the author of the Gospel of Mark. He accompanied Paul and Barnabas on Paul's first missionary journey, but after he and Paul got into a row, Barnabas took Mark to Cyprus, leaving Paul on his own. Later, he and Paul reconciled. He is believed to have founded the church in Alexandria, which makes him the founder of African Christianity.
