The book of Joshua is the first of twelve historical books of the Bible. It was written primarily by Joshua, but the fact that his death is covered in the book, clearly there were other authors as well. We do not know who those others were. It was written around 1405 to 1380 B.C. duing the historic time of the conquest of Canaan, and its key truth is total victory. The key verse, in 1:3, is "Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses."
