Job is the first of the five poetic books. The name Job means "one who is persecuted" and was written by an unknown author about the man named Job. It was written around 1500 B.C. and holds as its key truth the question Why do the righteous suffer? The key verse is found in 1:21: "The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD."
