The Book of Ezra was originally part of a single volume which included Nehemiah. It was written by Ezra in the 5th Century B.C. and the historic time was the Persian Empire. The key truth is return and rebuilding, and the key verse, found in 9:9, is "ur God did not forsake us in our bondage..."
