First chronicles was probably written by the scribe Ezra in the 5th Century B.C. and was meant as a history of God's people. Written about the united kingdom, its key verse, found in 9:1, is "So all Israel was recorded by genealogies, and indeed, they were inscribed in the book of the kings of Israel."
