Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians during his second imprisonment, circa 62 A.D. It was a response to an offering sent from the church at Philippi and is bursting with love and joy. In this letter, Paul shares the primary truths about Christ: a) His divine pre-existence; b) His emptying of Himself; c) His humble humanity; d) His redemptive death on the cross; e) His exaltation by the Father; His supreme name; and f) His future rulership of the universe. He further gets right to the core of Christianity with his statement, "To live is Christ, and to die is gain."
