Buddhism in Prison

• Angulimala  - Holistic approach to bringing the teachings of Buddhism into the penitentiary. Includes the training and movement of volunteer prison chaplains and an aftercare and advisory service for prisoners after their release.
• The Buddhist Inmate Sangha  - Carries out pen pal and book donation projects to provide spiritual support for Buddhists in jail.
• Buddhist Relief Mission  - Seeks to give those who are in prison a second chance through a renewed perception for those people behind bars.
• The Campaign to Free Jarvis Jay Masters  - Contains proposals to help liberate this American Buddhist writer: buying the book “Finding Freedom,” donating finances, and working for the abolishment of the death penalty.
• The Engaged Zen Foundation  - Fosters Zen study and practice in the penitentiaries as a means to reform the prison systems.
• Gateless Gate  - Maintains a prison program throughout North Central Florida centering on the study and practice of Zen. Also holds retreats and Buddhist classes.
• Prison Dharma Support  - Buddhist spiritual tradition inspired endeavor catering to the spiritual and educational needs of inmates in the federal, state, county, and municipal prisons.
• Society of Mountains and Rivers Prison and Affiliate Groups  - Association of Buddhist volunteers which provides support to interested inmates. Services include meditations, liturgy, and dharma talks.
