Kwanzaa, a week-long festival, is observed from December 26 to January 1 each year. It is made up of seven days of activities including candle-lighting, feasting, and gift giving. It was created by Ron Karenga to honor African-American culture and was first celebrated from December 26, 1966, to January 1, 1967.
