June 14 is Flag Day in the United States. It is a national observance, not a holiday. The On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution adopting Betsy Ross' flag as the flag of the future United States of America. In 1949, an act of Congress established it as National Flag Day.
