A secular holiday invented by a the father of a Seinfield writer. Daniel O'Keefe's father, Dan Sr., first celebrated Festivus in February 1966, commemorating his first date with his wife. It is now celebrated on December 23, which is roughly when it was celebrated on the show. The holiday includes the "Airing of Grievances", in which everyone present how they have disappointed him or her during the past year.
