Patrick Henry (May 29, 1736-June 6, 1799) is probably best remembered for his speech ending with the call to action, "Give me liberty or give me death!" but was also a head of the pre-Revolution militia in Virginia, a member of the Continental Congress, the first and the sixth post-Revolution Governor of Virginia, and in large part, the conscience of the founding fathers.
