James Madison, Jr. (March 16, 1751 – June 28, 1836) was 4th President of the United States, serving from 1809 until 1817. He is generally considered the "Father of the Constitution", due to his role as the principal author of the document. He also wrote over more than one-third of the Federalist Papers and was responsible for writing the Bill of Rights.
