Family Gekkonidae, commonly called True Geckos, consists of approximately 300 species found around the world. They are all able to make sounds and, while some give birth to live young, most lay eggs.
Many sources include the Pygopodidae (Flap-footed Lizards) genera in this family, due to the close relationships. Other sources combine Gekkonidae and Pygopodidae in the infraorder / suborder Gekkota.
