• Center for Virus Research (CVR)  - Organized research unit at the University of California in Irvine. Seeks to create interdisciplinary collaborations and studies on molecular virology. Provides training, facilities, and administrative infrastructure.
• Enteric Virus Group  - Conducts research on Hepatitis A, Gastroenteritis viruses, and environmental and food virology.
• Institute for Molecular Virology  - Research institute administered by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School. Undertakes research and provides training in virology, chiefly at the molecular level.
• Institute of Human Virology (IHV)  - Integrates basic research, epidemiology, and clinical research in an effort to expedite the discovery of diagnostics and therapeutics for fatal viral and immune disorders.
• Mullins Molecular Retrovirology Lab  - Makes use of a variety of techniques to explore and learn more about the relationship between HIV and human hosts.
• Myles H. Thaler Center for AIDS and Human Retrovirus Research  - Explores the fundamental questions on AIDS development and the ways by which HIV replicates at the cellular and molecular level.
