• Furious Flower Poetry  - Aims to promote the genre of African American Poetry through education, research, and publication.
• Governor's Best Practice Center  - Regional service center created to raise the levels of student achievement and compliance to state accreditation standards.
• Institute for Infrastructure and Information Assurance  - Venue for multi-institutional and interdisciplinary research projects as well as for education and outreach programs. Aims to develop solutions to issues related to homeland security.
• Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services  - University-wide initiative established to facilitate innovation and collaboration endeavors for improving health and human service research, education, and community engagement.
• Institute of Certified Professional Managers  - Nonprofit, educational institute and business center noted as the world's largest certifying organization for managers.
• International Beliefs and Values Institute  - Dedicated to examining, describing, and explaining the interrelationships between the implicit and explicit beliefs and values of governments, organizations, societies, groups, and individuals.
• Lifelong Learning Institute  - Provides Elderhostel-based programs of learning available on a non-credit basis.
• Mahatma Gandhi Center for Global Nonviolence  - Coordinating and collaboration platform for conflict resolution and peace-building.
• Mine Action Information Center  - Public policy center that provides training and information pertinent to humanitarian mine clearance, victim assistance, and mine risk reduction.
• Nelson Institute  - International and public affairs center serves as a complement to the JMU mission of training educated and responsible citizens.
• Nursing Research and Outreach Center  - Outreach and research extension of JMU Nursing Department designed to foster broad-based, interdisciplinary, collaborative initiatives.
• Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center  - Supports small and medium-sized businesses through free counseling services, assistance with feasibility studies and business planning, seminars, and training events.
• University Health Center  - University service unit provides professional and collaborative primary care and education to encourage a personal responsibility for wellbeing.

• Virginia's Manufacturing Innovation Center  - Promotes access to high-performance technology and innovative workforce development for the smaller manufacturers of Virginia.
