Lee County was formed in 1793 and is the westernmost county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The county seat is Jonesville. It was named after Light Horse Harry Lee, who was the Governor of Virginia in the 1790s. He was the leader of light troops in the Revolutionary War and was the father of General Robert E. Lee.
