Named for President John Tyler, the City of Tyler is the seat of Smith County, Texas. The city is nicknamed the "Rose Capital of the world" for its significant role in the rose growing industry, with about twenty percent of the commercial rose bushes in the United States grown in Tyler and the surrounding area.
