The City of Church Hill is in Hawkins County, Tennessee. While the city was not incorporated until 1958, the community was established as a trading post and stagecoach stop known as Spencer's Mill in the late 18th century. Its name was changed to Church Hill after a Methodist Church was constructed on a hill overlooking the Holston River Valley. The original church building still stands on what is now known as Grandview Street in downtown Church Hill, Tennessee.
