Stringtown is a small incorporated town in Atoka County, Oklahoma. Originally known as Springtown, for its nearby mineral springs, its current name is thought to been an error in spelling on the incorporation documents. The Bonnie and Clyde Barrow gang shot and killed their first law enforcement officer in Stringtown in 1932, when the town's sheriff was seriously wounded, and a deputy sheriff killed.
