Maggie Valley is a town in Haywood County. At the turn of the 20th century, Jack Setzer fought a very long battle to have a post office established in his home, and when he finally won that battle, the town was named after his 14 year old daughter. By all accounts, Maggie was highly embarrassed when she was told the story, and ran upstairs crying at the news.
