Oxford County, Maine was incorporated in 1805. The county is located on the western part of Maine, bordering New Hampshire and Canada. The towns of Oxford County are mostly small and rural, Rumford being its largest city, while South Paris is the county seat.
The mountainous terrain provides summer and winter recreational opportunities, including some of the state's best skiing as well as miles of hiking and snowmobile trails. The Appalachian Trail, Grafton Notch State Park, and several lakes and rivers are part of Oxford County.
