Settled in 1779, West Paris, Maine was a part of the township of Paris, to its south, until September of 1957, when it was incorporated as a separate town. North Paris, to the northeast of the village of West Paris, is part of the township of West Paris.
Snow Falls, a 40-foot waterfall, drops into a gorge created by the Little Androscoggin River about two miles south of the main village.
