Settled in 1690, Turner was incorporated on July 7, 1786 from Sylvester Plantation. The town can be found in Androscoggin County, directly north of Auburn on Maine Route 4.

Turner has several ponds, and flowing water, including the Nezinscot River, whhich passes through the main village on its way to the Androscoggin River.
