Swanville is a town in Waldo County, Maine. It was settled in 1774, and was known as Goose Pond in its early years, the Goose River being an outlet from Swan Lake. Swanville was incorporated from Swan's Tract Plantation on February 19, 1818.
Located in Swanville, Hurd's Pond is a 25-acre body of water surrounded by 75 acres of sedge meadow and freshwater wetlands, which today is owned and managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The main village is located south of Belfast along Maine Route 141.
