Society and Culture: Disability Resources

• ACB of Maine  - A consumer group affiliated with the National American Council of the Blind, whose purpose is to promote the independence, security, and quality of life for the blind and visually impaired in Maine.
• Deaf Maine  - Presents an activities calendar, and a listing of resources and organizations working for the deaf and hearing impaired in Maine.
• Iris Network  - A resource for Maine people who are visually impaired or blind to attain their determined level of independence and integration into the community.
• Maine Center on Deafness  - A nonprofit organization that serves people in Maine who are deaf, or hearing impaired, by advocating for social equality, and helping the general public to better understand and appreciate Deaf culture and effective ways of communication.
