Incorporated in 1835, Passadumkeag is a town in Penobscot County, Maine. Its name is derived from an Indian name meaning above the gravel bar, or where the river runs through the gravelly bed, referring to a gravelly area downstream in the Penobscot River, which was a link to the east by canoe. An ancient cemetery, thought to be about 3,000 years old, is located in Passadumkeag.
