  • Alna, ME - Business details, reviews, maps, weather, and local info.
Category Description:

It is thought that Alna was settled around 1760, and incorporated as New Milford on June 25, 1794. The residents of the town were unsatisfied with this name so, in 1811, a special town meeting was called for the purpose of selecting a more descriptive name for the town; the name Alna was chosen, from the Latin alnus for alder, since there were many alder trees growing along the banks of the Sheepscot River.
