Dammam is the capital of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It has a large port, and is served by the King Fahd International Airport. Due to expansion, the nearby cities of Khobar and Dhahran have merged with Dammam into one large conurbation known as the Dammam Metropolitan Area.
