Special education refers to the method of instruction or classroom-based teaching that makes use of exercises and techniques particularly designed for the needs of students with learning abilities outside the standard school curriculum.

Disabilities covered by special education include deafness, vision impairment, developmental delays, dyslexia, ADHD, traumatic brain injury, autism, and other physical and mental challenges.
