The Norfolk Terrier is the smallest of the working dogs and gained breed recognition in the UK in 1932 and in the USA in 1936. The Norfolk and Norwich Terrier were bred in the early 20th century by Frank Jones and the Norfolk Terrier was originally considered a variety of the Norwich Terrier and the breed was separated in 1964 by the British Kennel Club. One of the identifying characteristics between the two breeds of terrier is that the Norfolk Terrier has the dropped ear while the Norwich are pricked.
