As its name suggests, the Sussex Spaniel originated in Sussex in the United Kingdom. Recognised as a breed from as early as 1790, the Sussex Spaniel is one of the early spaniel breeds. All present day Sussex Spaniels descend from the remaining eight of the breed in England at the end of World War 11.
