Category Description:

The Neapolitan Mastiff (also known as the Mastini) is an ancient, very large dog that originated in Naples Italy and was once used in crime control in that city. The modern dog of today appeared in the 1940s when a journalist named Piero Scanziana became involved in preserving the breed. This dog is noted as a devoted family pet and good watch dog.
