The Afghan Hound is known for its long silky coat and the ring curl at the end of its tail, the Afghan hound was bred in the mountains of Afghanistan to pursue game such as the indigenous gazelles and hares, or shepherd by sight. They stand between 24 and 29 inches high and weigh between 45 and 60 pounds. They are a dignified breed and have the temperament to match, and they are usually aloof but while playing they can be quite silly and clown-like. One of the oldest of all dog breeds, the Afghan hound is also known as the Afghanischer Windhund, Baluchi Hound, Levrier Afghan, Lebrel Afgano, Sage Baluchi, or Tazi. The Walt Disney animated movie, "Lady and the Tramp, starred an Afghan hound named Ruby. In 2005, the first cloned dog was declared to be an Afghan ho0und by the name of Snuppy.
