• Annual Nugget Rib Cook-Off  - End-of-summer free rib festival in Reno Nevada. Event features rib competition plus music, crafts, and family fare.
• Apple Scrapple Festival  - Held during October in Bridgeville, Delaware, celebrating the local apple crop and scrapple, a type of mush made with pork. Other activities include crafts and car shows, scrapple tossing and skillet tossing contests.

• Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival  - Held on varying dates in Des Moines, Iowa. Includes lectures, showcase and bacon eating contest.
