The Gran Turismo Omologato (GTO) is a Pontiac-built automobile typically referred to as the first true muscle car. Its name was inspired by the Ferrari 250 GTO and it is notable for defying General Motors's policy for limiting the A-body intermediate line to a maximum engine displacement of 330 CID (5.4 L).
