Indira Priyadarshini Gandhim (November 19, 1917 - October 31, 1984) was the first, and so far, the only, woman to become Prime Minister of the Republic of India. She served three full terms consecutively from 1966 to 1977 and part of a fourth term from 1980 until her assassination in 1984.
