The International Fantasy Gaming Society or IFGS is a LARP group that designs, sanctions, and runs various fantasy themed live action role-playing games. It was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1981. It operates as a nonprofit and member-run corporation running live combat games with foam weapons following a complex rule system. The IFGS name comes from the fictional group described in the Dream Park series of novels. Incidentally, IFGS possesses features or characteristics that resemble those of the group mentioned in the Dream Park novels.
Participating the IFGS games are players grouped by classes: Clerics, Druids, Fighters, Knights, Magic-Users, Monks, Rangers, and Thieves. Every class has its specific set of skills and powers.
Game point system on the other hand is based on player hit locations and armory. Players are "damaged" when hit in the torso, the left and right arms, and left and right legs similar to other LARP games though damage points are lessened by the presence or players' use of armors.
