Dragon Crest is a fantasy live action role-playing game or LARP that features monsters and magic, combining fantasy tabletop role-playing with live events, mock combat, and adventure. It is a boffer weapon type of game that uses a point based damage system. It does not allow contact between or among players except for the weapons. Magic spells are also employed in combat simulations wherein the one casting the spell utters a chant or incantation aloud and throws a birdseed-filled packet to a target for the spell to take effect.
Various characters exist in Dragon Crest including different types of elves, dwarfs, and humanoids. There are also several races available in the game's campaign world.
Dragon Crest chapters regularly hold or run events once or twice a month. Each event's duration could be a single day, module days, or a full weekend-long event. Single day events typically commence in the morning of a Saturday until around 10 o'clock in the evening. Module day events on the other hand last around one to three hours per day and are usually held on Saturday and Sunday. The longest event or game type—weekend events—are held non-stop from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.
