Darkon or the Darkon Wargaming Club is a fantasy boffer combat group in the United States operated as a nonprofit live action role-playing (LARP) club. It is based in the Washington, DC area and was founded in 1985 following the rules of the defunct Emarthnguarth Outdoor Wargaming System.
Being one of the oldest active LARPs in existence, Darkon was already featured in a CNN story and in a couple of Fox News broadcasts. A feature-length documentary, entitled Darkon, was released in 2006 following the real-life adventures of the Darkon Wargaming Club in Baltimore.
The Darkon Wargaming Club is administered by three official governing bodies namely the Executive Board, Noble Council, and the Senate. It also maintains tie-ins with local park services and other bodies that manage public grounds to easily arrange events. A "realm" in a typical LARP is a "country" in Darkon composed of players who pledge allegiance to a leader.
